The Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) / German Academic Exchange Service is a private, publicly funded, self governing organization of higher education institutions in Germany. DAAD promotes international academic relations and cooperation by offering mobility programs primarily for students and faculty, but also for administrators and others in the higher education realm.
November of each year
Monthly stipend of EUR 750. Health insurance and flat rate subsidy for travel costs (US East: EUR 925 / West: EUR 1,300; Canada East: EUR 1,450 / West: EUR 1,300). In addition, limited funds are available for a rent subsidy and family allowance.
In last year of undergraduates studies at an accredited North American university OR Recent BA/BS or MA/MS graduate who completed their last degree no longer than 6 years ago by the application deadline date OR Graduate students enrolled full-time at an accredited North American university.
Applicants may not have been living in Germany for more than 15 months by the time of application deadline.
US/Canadian citizenship or permanent residency; OR Foreign nationals who have been in a full-time degree program at a university in the US or Canada for at least one year by the time of application deadline.
Applicants in the humanities and social sciences should have a good command of German.
