American Field Service (AFS) Canada: Youths Go Abroad
The Youths Go Abroad programme is a year-long immersion programme for high school students lasting 10 to 12 months. Students stay with a host family and go to school. Programme options include a year abroad, a semester abroad or an intensive summer programme. AFS also organizes activities so that individuals can meet other participants. Although there may not be any formal language classes included in the curriculum, complete immersion means that participants will most likely learn the language quickly.
