Animal Experience International: Animal Care Volunteering
Many people feel empathy towards animals and would love the opportunity to work with them, but feel they lack sufficient training or experience. To participate in an AEI Experience, you need only have a passion for animals and a desire to help – we provide the rest! AEI Experiences are non-medical placements that provide you with the training and guidance that will have you volunteering directly with the animals. AEI's Placement Partners provide real-world training that allows you to learn at your own pace. You will be responsible for cage enrichment, preparing diets, feeding the animals, and helping to keep them clean, while learning about the husbandry and natural history of the animals in your care. Build on the foundations of your education and past animal involvement, or develop new skills working with exciting species and projects. AEI Experiences are great for students and new grads looking for additional experience to help in the job market or when applying to professional schools. Whether you would like to gain more animal experience in general or are interested in learning specific skills, AEI has the experience for you!
AEI Experiences are non-structured placements – built around your interests, your particular skill set and your schedule. AEI Experiences are project-based, working with Placement Partners that are well established in their communities. We can develop a placement for you that will allow you to contribute to a valuable project and provide you with the opportunity to travel and experience the country in which you are visiting.
No experience is required, we will train you when you get there! Care for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife in Guatemala and Australia, play with elephants in Thailand, help home dogs in Mexico and Nepal even participate in sea turtle rehabilitation on the tropical beaches of Costa Rica, Australia and Greece!
