Call for volunteers for MEDASSET's sea turtle Project in Lefkada island, Greece
MEDASSET is seeking nature-loving volunteers to participate in a sea turtle nesting survey on the island of Lefkada, western Greece, in July 2012. Volunteers are needed to conduct daily surveys on the beaches of the island and identify sea turtle nests for a period of two weeks. Complete training on nest identification and additional education on sea turtles will be provided to all volunteers. Our team will be based at a local camping site, and volunteers will have the opportunity to visit sites of environmental and cultural importance in the area. A moderately good physical condition is required for participation on our sea turtle nesting surveys. Survey teams will walk up to five miles each morning at a steady pace but with intermediate breaks to drive between beaches.Punctuality and a positive team work spirit are necessary ingredients for an enjoyable experience for all.
