Proyecto San Gerardo: Teach Conversational English in Costa Rica

Proyecto San Gerardo has been providing skills training in central south Costa Rica for 10 years. We look for volunteers who have both the skills and the experience as well as the passion to help people learn. Our local students graduate with skills that help them find better employment in the tourist sector both locally an throughout Costa Rica. Volunteers can choose between: - teaching Conversational English (3 month minimum commitment) - Amigos Ingles 1:1 conversation program (4 - 6 weeks minimum) - Computer skills training (6 weeks minimum, Spanish required) - Business Skills training ( 2 weeks minimum, Spanish required) - First Aid training (2/3 weeks minimum, Spanish required) And many other programs you can check out on the website. Since we are looking for skilled volunteers to stay at least 6 weeks we do not charge any fees. We arrange a homestay and all meals for our volunteers for $350/month and that fee is paid directly to the homestay family in order to further support the community. A homestay is a wonderful way to learn and practice Spanish as well as experience the traditional hospitality Costa Rica is famous for. Volunteers can also enjoy beautiful local hiking, photography, the hotsprings, and of course Mt. Chirripo. We are located 1 hour by bus to a city with all services and also close to the Pacific coast for weekend getaways.
