Application process and requirements
To be eligible for the Emerging Leaders for Governance and Communication programme, applicants must meet the following criteria: - Be a Canadian citizen or permanent Resident - Be between the ages of 19 and 30 - Be a post-secondary graduate; that is, a graduate of a degree or diploma programme in a university, college, post-secondary school of technology, post-secondary institute or a CEGEP (college d'enseignement general et professionnel, Quebec) - Be out of school (that is, must not have courses, coop-terms or theses left to complete to satisfy the current degree requirements) - Be ready to begin a professional career - Be unemployed or underemployed - Be legally entitled to work in Canada - Have never had a previous paid, career-related, international work experience, - Have never participated in a Youth Employment Strategy (YES) international internship programme in the past - Have the appropriate education, training or expertise (see placement listings for specific criteria) - Demonstrate an interest and/or experience in communication and ICT issues and openness to different cultures and situations - Possess high level of computer skills - Be ready to acknowledge that the country/region where the placement is entails particular risks to their health and security - Have excellent oral and written communication skills in English - Be available for a six-month term - Hold a current passport Application information is available online.
