Jeunesse et Nations Au Pair: Au Pair in France
As an au pair, participants are considered part of the host family, have their own bedroom and most often have their meals with the family. The main duty is childcare. The family can expect an au pair to take and collect the children at school, help to prepare their meals, play with them, bathe them and baby-sit one or two evenings per week. Moreover, au pairs will participate to the household, helping with light housework (dusting, ironing for the children, keeping their room and the children's rooms tidy, washing up). In return, au pairs receive pocket money (75 Euros minimum weekly for 30 hours of work) as well as other benefits.
